“Moral Injury. The Leader’s Role in Healing Emotional Wounds” – this is the central theme of this year’s International scientific and practical conference, Well-Being Leadership Conference – 2025. Initiated by the Center for Leadership of UCU and supported by partners from the UCU Business School and the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership, Ivey Business School (Canada), the conference has, for the third consecutive year, served as a platform that brings together leading Ukrainian and international experts in Leadership, corporate management, and mental well-being with practitioners ready to implement these ideas in real life.

Psychiatrist, manager of the Ukrainian-Swiss project “Mental Health for Ukraine,” and Executive Director of the UCU Institute of Mental Health. His research interests include mental health policies, development of community-based services, intersectoral cooperation, recovery-oriented approaches, psychosocial rehabilitation, and integration of mental health services into various sectors.
The “Lisova Polyana” Center is Ukraine’s leading institution specializing in the treatment of psychological trauma, the consequences of mild traumatic brain injury (post-concussion syndrome), and rehabilitation of individuals who have survived captivity and torture. The center’s team has been working with war-related trauma since 2014, integrating international evidence-based practices with the unique expertise of Ukrainian specialists. Currently, the institution has been designated a Center of Excellence. Tetiana Sirenko is an expert in working with individuals who have survived captivity and torture (10 years of experience), Chairperson of the Board of the Resource Center “Lisova Polyana,” and author of training programs for psychologists, doctors, social workers, prosecutors, and investigators. She is also a co-author of the model for creating mental health recovery centers for war-affected individuals in Ukraine.
Former Director of Psychological Health for the U.S. Marine Corps, awarded the Bronze Star for service in Iraq. Conducted research on PTSD in UN peacekeeping missions and developed psychological health doctrines for the U.S. military and NATO.
Formerly taught at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana University, Yale University, and Trinity College Dublin. He has authored over 20 books, including works on moral trauma and war. He led seminars on moral injury for the U.S. Veterans Administration for over 10 years.
Worked as a missionary at a children’s center, youth pastor, motivational speaker, and professional golf coach. Participated in the International Legion Defence of Ukraine and the 3rd Battalion Ghost Team. He has extensive experience in coaching and mentoring.
Yaroslava Butenko-Hachkivska is a psychoanalyst with extensive experience in business applications of psychoanalysis. She specializes in integrating psychoanalytic approaches into corporate management and leadership development.
With over 20 years of experience in communications, Dzvenyslava has been facilitating transformational sessions for government, business, and civil society teams since 2014. She is an organizational and existential coach, certified in TOP facilitation and systemic change. She is the author of online courses on presentation skills, change marketing, and influential communication. She also hosts the podcast “Meetings with Practitioners of Theory U.”
Ivan Afonin is a human resources management specialist, veteran, and father of three. He has experience working in major financial institutions, specializing in personnel adaptation and motivation in crisis conditions.
Alina Markina is an expert in human resources management and organizational development, as well as a volunteer. She has experience working in international IT companies, specializing in corporate culture, leadership, and effective communication.
Yaroslav Stashchak leads the Christian Counseling Department, which trains qualified counselors. The primary program is the Master’s in Christian Counseling, integrating psychology and theology. He also develops a network of counseling centers for students and graduates. He teaches “Introduction to Psychology,” “Leadership,” and “Theology 1.”
Ferenc Milo leads the Young Leaders Development Platform, a two-year part-time program for youth aged 17 and older, currently enrolling over 350 students. The program is based on coaching, where each student has a mentor to develop their potential. In addition to his administrative work, Ferenc teaches the course “Moral Theology in the Context of the Modern Era.”
