The position of the Leadership Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University on the dismissal of Zurab Alasania from the post of chairman of the board of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine

We, members of the Center for Leadership of UCU Team, are concerned about the unexpected decision of the Supervisory Board of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine regarding the early termination of the contract with Zurab Alasania, Chairman of the Board of Public Broadcasting.

We expect from the NSTU’s Supervisory Board to publish the protocol of the decision. As of now, society does not understand the motives of the Supervisory Board and the legitimate reasons for the release of Mr. Alasania. Of particular importance is the fact that the country is undergoing an election campaign. Doubts also raise questions about compliance with legal procedures when making such an important decision.

Trust in society builds on the years and hard work of many of its members, we want to emphasize that such unexpected and largely incomprehensible decisions for citizens have a negative impact on maintaining trust.
