Ivey Business School will teach according to cases developed in collaboration with the UCU Center for Leadership

The collection of cases of the prestigious Canadian Ivey Business School includes the case of Transparency International Ukraine, written by Canadian specialists Lindsay Birbrager, Lucas Monzani, and the CEO of the UCU Center for Leadership Andrii Rozhdestvenskyi. From now on, students at Ivey Business School will be taught on the basis of a case study illustrating the management situation that occurred at the Ukrainian branch of Transparency International.

Transparency International Ukraine is an accredited representative of the global Transparency International movement in Ukraine. Founded in 2014, the organization has set itself the goal to tackle the high level of corruption that took hold of the country. The Dignity revolution created a window of opportunity at the national level and in 2016 the decision was made to hire a new CEO to trigger TIU’s anti-corruption efforts. The Director General Yaroslav Yurychyshyn involved a new chief operating officer, Andrii Borovyk. Two seasoned professionals began to work collaboratively to revamp the organization and soon faced challenging external and internal pressure.

The Transparency International Ukraine’s case study describes the processes of organizational changes in TIU, the obstacles that the new leadership has faced and models of leadership behavior. Through this training material, students will be able to understand the peculiarities of leadership in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment, explain how leaders can use organizational design principles to govern changes in the context of complex organizations.

This case study will be included in the collection of training cases entitled “Book of Reforms”, which is being completed by the UCU Center for Leadership. The collection of twelve cases, each describing comprehensively the specific case of the transformation processes that took place in Ukraine after the Revolution of Dignity 2013–2014 will soon be published at the Ukrainian Catholic University. Follow the news of the Center on the web-site and on social networks.
